Do not drive an unsafe vehicle

Steering, tyres, lights, airbags, fluid leaks, high voltage warnings and structural damage can make a vehicle unsafe to drive.

Call CA Autobody before you accept a repair booking or sign an authority to repair.

Policy obligation: You may still need to notify your own insurer promptly. Check your PDS and claim conditions rather than delaying required notification.

BEFORE A REPAIRER IS SELECTED

Understand your policy and ask to nominate CA Autobody

There is no single rule that applies to every policy. The customer’s options depend on the policy’s Choice of Repairer terms, liability circumstances and the claim pathway.

WHAT TO CHECK

WHAT TO SAY OR ASK

Choice of repairer

Read the PDS wording and any conditions, additional costs or assessment requirements.

“I would like to nominate CA Autobody. Please explain the Choice of Repairer terms that apply to my policy.”

Parts and repair method

Ask what parts and procedures are proposed and whether the repairer has current manufacturer approval.

“Will the repair follow the applicable OEM repair information and use genuine OEM parts within the approved plan?”

Excess and liability

Do not assume there will be no excess or no impact on the claim record.

“What needs to be established before any excess or recovery position can be confirmed?”

Replacement vehicle

Eligibility can depend on fault, policy cover, third party recovery and availability.

“What replacement vehicle options are available in my circumstances, and who is responsible for the cost?”

    COMMON QUESTIONS

Clear answers before you make the next move

Do I have to use the repairer suggested by my insurer?

Your options depend on the Choice of Repairer terms in your policy. Ask to nominate CA Autobody and request a clear explanation of any conditions, additional costs or assessment requirements.

Should I contact my own insurer?

You may have a duty to notify your insurer within a required period. Speak with CA Autobody before authorising repairs, but do not ignore your PDS or notification obligations.

Will I have to pay an excess?

That cannot be promised before liability, policy and claim pathway are assessed. In some circumstances an excess may not apply or may be recoverable, but this must be confirmed.

Can I get a replacement vehicle?

Replacement or hire vehicle options may be available. Eligibility, vehicle type, duration and cost responsibility depend on the circumstances and arrangements.

Can photos confirm the repair cost?

Photos help with early triage but cannot reveal all underlying damage. A physical inspection and approved estimate are required.

I had my car repaired at CA Auto in Chelsea after a run-in with a kangaroo, and the service was absolutely brilliant. A special mention to John, Georgie & Cameron who were fantastic throughout the whole process – professional, friendly, and kept me updated every step of the way.
