BYD publishes repair procedures for each model it sells here, and an approved repairer commits to following them rather than improvising. In practice that comes down to four things.
We repair the BYD range sold in Australia, including the Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, Sealion, Shark and Seal U. Each has its own structural layout and its own procedure set, and we work to the one that matches your build rather than a generic approach.
BYD’s Blade pack is structural. It is not a box bolted under the floor, it is part of what gives the car its rigidity, which means damage to the underside or the sills is a different conversation on a BYD than on a petrol car.
Everything starts with isolating the high voltage system to BYD’s procedure before a panel comes off. Pack related work is done within the scope an approved repairer is permitted, and anything outside that scope goes back to BYD. We will tell you up front which of those your car is.
BYD’s safety systems rely on cameras and radar mounted to the body. Replace a bumper, a windscreen, a guard or a mirror, or disturb the suspension geometry, and those sensors are no longer where the car thinks they are. Recalibration is part of the repair, done before the car leaves us, not an optional extra.
Bring the car in or send photos. We quote on what we can see and tell you honestly what is likely hiding underneath, because that is the usual reason a repair runs late.
Shut down and isolated to BYD’s procedure, signed off before anyone touches a panel.
The car is set up and measured against BYD’s data. Sections BYD allows to be repaired are repaired. Sections BYD says must be replaced are replaced, with the correct welds, rivets and bonding for that joint.
Matched to the panel in front of us and blended into the neighbouring panels, not matched to a paint code and stopped at the edge. More on our spray painting page.
Sensors recalibrated, fault codes checked and cleared, panel gaps and finish checked under proper light, then a road test and a clean before you see it.
We are an approved repairer for AAMI, RACV and NRMA and work with every major insurer. Many Victorian policies include choice of repairer or let you request it, so if you want your BYD repaired by an approved repairer, say so to your insurer and we will handle the rest. If you were not at fault you generally have a free choice, and our accident assistance page covers towing, the claim and getting a replacement vehicle.
We are family run, we have been repairing cars at Chelsea Heights for more than thirty years, and we are VACC approved. Alongside BYD we are a manufacturer approved repairer for Tesla, Zeekr and Lexus. Every repair carries a lifetime warranty on parts for as long as you own the car, and our Google rating is 4.9 across more than 350 reviews.
We offer free pickup and drop off valet across Melbourne’s south east, covering Chelsea, Carrum Downs, Cheltenham, Mentone, Mordialloc and the rest of the suburbs on our areas we serve page.
Repairs carried out by an approved repairer, to BYD’s procedures, with genuine BYD parts, are intended to protect your factory warranty. If you are unsure about a specific job, ask us and we will put it in writing.
Yes. Structural parts, panels, glass and fasteners all come through BYD.
We follow BYD’s procedures for isolating and handling the high voltage system, and for pack related work inside an approved repairer’s scope. Anything beyond that goes to BYD, and we will tell you straight away if that is where your car is headed.
Often. Where the paint is unbroken and the panel allows it, paintless dent removal keeps the factory finish and costs less than a respray.
It depends on the damage and on parts availability. Parts for newer brands can take longer, and we will tell you that honestly rather than discovering it at the last minute.
Yes, including Tesla and Zeekr as an approved repairer, and other EVs to the manufacturer’s procedures.
Alongside BYD repairs we handle smash repairs, panel beating, spray painting, paintless dent removal, accident assistance and replacement vehicles.
